What is Gorean roleplay?
Gorean roleplay is when you create a character based on the books of Gor written by John Norman. The basic character types for Gorean roleplay are: free men, free women and slaves (male and female). Through chat-style interaction you imagine the Gorean world and act according to Gorean principals. There is romance, conflict and adventure awaiting those who take the time to express themselves in this "virtual world". It is not necessary for people to read all the books before they start their Gorean roleplay adventure, but basic understanding of Gor would be very helpful. There are many web sites that can help you learn about Gor, two of which we in Thentis recommend: the World of Gor and Luther's Scrolls.
What are the specific rules for roleplay in Thentis?
This is a great, affluent city with active castes and yearly festivals. It also has the oldest and grandest tarn Stadium in all of JAG where the dangerous tarn races are held. All are welcome to visit this city and enjoy it's many pleasures.
The roleplay in Thentis follows a post-for-post style; meaning each person takes turns "posting" the text of their actions in the room. If spars, challenges or combat breaks out the participants can decide on a different method if all parties agree (ie 3/2/10, or Prodigy rules).

How can I join the City of Thentis and/or JAG?
It is not necessary to purchase a JAG membership in order to roleplay in Thentis. All you need to do is choose a name and log in at the top of this page. Membership to JAG will allow you to create your own rooms and color your characters name however you want.
What is the climate in Thentis?
Thentis is the only region in all of Gor where the precious black wine beans can be grown. Due to this, the mountains of Thentis remain temperate all year round with a 3 month black wine harvest in the dry months.Who are the VIP's of Thentis? Thentis @ JAG is a relatively remote city, currently with 3 Free Men, 1 Free Woman and 6 female slaves that form the core of the roleplay here. You can always assume that Non-Playing Characters (NPC's) exist in the city contributing to the atmosphere of Gorean life.What is black wine?Here is a list of our current residents:
Simply, black wine is an expensive and rare drink which is produced only in Thentis. It's much like coffee on Earth, but stronger (think espresso or Turkish Coffee). Thentis strictly limits the trade of black wine in JAG, making our stocks and shipments a common target for raiders. For that reason, we keep all our large stocks of black wine in the trading post known as Fort Haskins. There the beans can be protected and our sleen patrols can hunt out smugglers.What are tarn races?Our monopoly on the black wine trade gives our city fame and fortune. Yet even in Thentis a cup can be as expensive as 2 silver tarsks and is often only served in high caste homes. We do allow visitors to our main hall to drink black wine "on the house", but every where else in Thentis it will cost you! Black wine is regulated by Merchant Law and we have documented quality standards for the beverage.
Thentis is the "City of Tarns", these hawk-like birds are massive enough to carry a man to war. Lighter birds are used for tarn races. In Thentis we use the hyperchat "roll die" feature to randomly determine the result of the tarn race. Your character can be killed in a tarn race, just by a series of unfortunate die rolls.
